"Team Bride" Tank Tops

This past Wed-Sat, I was in Sin City celebrating a Bachelor/Bachelorette party with The Future Caseys. We had a great time, but by day #4, everyone was ready to be home.

Before we went, I had the great idea of making matching shirts for the girls. I did some googling and came up with the idea to make "Team Bride" tanks.

Originally, I purchased some glitter iron-on transfer paper. It used my Cricut to cut out the letters and I was in love...

...until I went to peel the plastic off the front of the letters and the glitter came with it. I was furious.

So, Plan "B" was to iron no-sew backing on to fabric, then use the Cricut to cut out the letters. My first attempt was a huge FAIL. My mat wasn't sticky enough, my Cricut settings were off a little, and the letters would not cut out properly. I was just about to give up, but then I googled "cutting fabric with a Cricut" one more time.

I found a few great tips, recommended settings, and I was again renewed. On to Plan "C."

After a few trips to the fabric store, a new blade and sticky mat, and some hand-sewn flowers...

Viola!

And, of course, the Bride-to-Be needed a personalized sash!

A few Cricut projects

I am still kind of struggling with this "everything-in-one-place" blog. It just feels so crowed, so unorganized. But, for now, I'll spare you the strife of clicking on more than one page and I'll continue to post everything together. That is, until I have more time (ha ha ha) to craft, then I'll be comin' at ya with a new blog...**sigh** Someday...

But, in the mean time, here's what I have been up to with my Cricut lately...

Cricut-made Bachelorette Party Card

On Saturday I made the trip up to Fort Worth to celebrate with my friend and sorority sister Janell for her Bachelorette Party. I am going to her wedding in NYC in less than 2 weeks and I couldn't be more thrilled!

So, I decided to try my hand at card making with the Cricut.

Nothing says "Kappa Bachelorette" like animal print and fleur de lis!

Ok, I'm obsessed. I have already sent my email to Santa. (Yes, he accepts emails now. Love that he's technologically savvy!) I have heard the term "Cricut" a hundred (maybe more) times. I knew that it was a scrapbooking tool. (I used to scrapbook, but now I don't have the time.) I think I knew it was a die-cutting machine. (If you don't know what that means, you're obviously NOT a scrapbooker...) Somehow, the other day, I came across the Cricut again. I don't even remember what lead me to it, but I do know that it was love at first sight. I quickly sent a shout out to all my Facebook friends to see if any of them were proud Cricut owners. Thankfully, a friend from High School replied and I asked her 10 million (ok, maybe just 10) questions about it. She loves it and she said it can be used for cutting paper, vinyl, and even cloth for sewing! Holy cow--I must have it. So, I promptly got on the 'ol Yahoo and sent off my email to the big man in red. (No, not the Kool-aid guy...SANTA!) I promised him that I had been a good girl and now I just have my fingers crossed that he thinks so, too. Stay tuned for me to go crafting crazy (Hopefully!) with a new Cricut very soon!
